People and the City project
If you have ever dreamed of having a beautiful art piece with you in the picture, now is your chance. Marko Gavrilovic crafts incredible original artworks reminiscent of the impressionists. He uses swirls and angular lines to create scenes that are both familiar and fantastic.
He is currently working on a new project: giving art fans an over-the-shoulder view of what the person in the foreground of the picture is thinking or feeling. The figures face away from the viewer – looking out of a window onto a landscape in front of them. Marko has run into a creative stumbling block: he knows most of the people he draws too well. He would like to incorporate new figures into his art work, as he prepares for a New York exhibition.
As part of his Indiegogo crowdfunding campaign, he invites you to send a photograph of yourself, taken from behind. Working only from what he sees in that picture, he will incorporate your profile into his current work. For a $60 contribution, you will receive a copy of the work that includes your profile.
Even if you cannot contribute to Marko’s crowdfunding campaign, it is worth your while to visit the Indigogo People and the City website just to view his beautiful art work. The paintings displayed have the same raw passion displayed in Picasso’s works, but the presentation is rounded into something smoother, almost futuristic as it displays landscapes that have never been.
Also displayed on the website is a gorgeous video rendition of Marko’s artwork set to “Summertime.” The videography is done by Ivana Ivka. The brief video is a remarkable blend of accelerated drawing, pictures appropriate to the lyrics, and a theme of transcendence. By the end of the video, you almost feel as if you could “fly away” with the character, as it grows wings and finally appears silhouetted against the sun.
If that were not enough, there is also a short video of “live painting” as Marko creates a wild, animated bull so vivid and alive you can almost hear him snorting, and taste the dust he raises on the back of your tongue.
Money raised from this crowdfunding event will be used for art supplies and display materials for the art show. The stretch goal for this campaign is to pay a professional to create vide-os similar to the two displayed on the website.
Rewards for this campaign are art prints and original paintings. If you loved Matisse, Picasso and their contemporaries, you’ll want to at least feast your eyes on this Indiegogo webpage. It is also the
