EVER WONDERED WHAT A 3.5 BILLION YEARS OLD SUPERFOOD TASTES LIKE?
Hello, we are Stefania, Pierluigi and Nicola.
We develop innovative food products for people that choose not to compromise, but to eat and stay healthy by shifting to a more sustainable lifestyle.
We use Algae in our products as they are rich in essential nutrients like proteins, vitamins, minerals, essential amino acids and Omega 3 and 6. Spirulina, a microalgae, has been nominated by FAO “a powerful tool to fight malnutrition” for its complete nutritional profile.
Our first product combines two superfoods: Extra-Dark Organic Chocolate produced by a small community in Peru for a moment of decadent pleasure and Spirulina, a microalgae naturally grown and dried under the sun that has been consumed for centuries for its high nutritional value.
★ GLUTEN AND LACTOSE FREE

Production of Spirulina
Most people think of algae as green or red stuff growing in the ocean or lakes, but, like land plants, there are countless different species of algae. In fact, there are more than 30,000 species of algae, and blue-green algae like Spirulina are the most primordial.
The Spirulina we use comes from different countries: in the Provence region of France and in the South of Italy there are several high quality Spirulina's producers that grow this precious ingredient. But also in Africa: Togo and Madagascar thanks to Antenna, our NGO partner, which promotes the development of local Spirulina farms.
Our goals is to buy-produce Spirulina in areas where we can really help local algae producers make an impact.
Below you can see why Spirulina is "in every sense" a sustainable and "green"ingredient.
Bite4Bite™ Strategy
According to the World Food Program, 805 million people in the world do not have enough food to lead a healthy active life. The vast majority of the world’s hungry live in developing countries, where 13.5 % of the population is undernourished.
The Algae Factory™ has decided from its very beginning to develop and implement a Bite4Bite™ Corporate Social Responsibility model that will impact both developed and developing countries alike. Sustainability is for us not only a word but rather the belief that we can truly make a difference.
With our Bite4Bite™ program every time you take a bite at our chocolate bar, you will be actively participating in building a Spirulina farm in Africa together with our NGO partner Antenna-Technologies.
Together with Antenna, we are supporting and promoting the development of Spirulina farms in Africa in the fight against malnutrition.
What we need
We already begun the production but now we need your help so that we can invest in creating a new interactive online platform where people, companies, and Non-Profit Organizations can buy our products directly from us.
But not only that! You will be able to create your own bar by choosing your favorite healthy ingredients with a base of Extra Dark Chocolate and Algae. For example, you can add Puffed Rice, Hemp Seeds, Sorghum Flakes or Almonds.. according to your tastes. Your Personalised Chocolate Algae Bar will be delivered straight to your door.

Use of funds
After having payed the campaign fees, we will give 5% of the money collected directly to Antenna-Technologies for supporting the construction of the algae farm in Madagascar. We will invest the remaining capital for the development of the platform. Of course 10.000 euros are just a start, but we will keep going, selling bars and raising funds to build a wonderful and easy to use platform.
A special thank you goes to Roots Palmera for the music in the video, to Rupert Britton and Ken Wolff for video shooting and editing, to WebSushi and to all of our supporters everywhere!
Risks and challenges
At The Algae Factory™ we are already working at full speed to produce and package the chocolate bars in order to fulfil all the orders in a timely manner.
Please understand that our chocolate is produced using the traditional techniques and therefore not industrial.
Each bar is carefully wrapped and labeled by hand and this process takes a little bit longer as we take pride in releasing a unique product that embodies each of our 5 guidelines:
✜ Healthy ✜ Delicious ✜ Sustainable ✜ Innovative ✜ True
