There are 5.5 million child slaves in the world. This is just an estimation of number of children in forced labour, given the fact that trafficking as an illicit crime is hard to measure. We cannot even imagine, how many children in reality suffer in modern day slavery. They are either bonded labourers, working without pay, or trafficked from one area to another to work in conditions of slavery and inhumane settings.

You may think children that are enslaved might be at a far off distance. You are mistaken. Children in slavery can be found all around you- be it in domestic homes, in shops, in roadside eateries, in agricultural farms, in factories, in brothels, in mines or even in products that you use every day. Confused?! Yes this is a reality.

#EndChildSlaveryWeek is a campaign to raise awareness on all forms of child slavery. We want to highlight the scourge of child slavery that exists all around you. Let us open all our senses to raise our voice and take action against this modern day slavery.

How much ever you try to ignore, you cannot shy away from this reality.
