I know absolutely nothing about the court system here or anywhere in the world. I’ve never been in a court of law before in my life. However, I figured (wrongly) that I do not require an attorney to tell the truth. 

It turns out that I do!

My ex keyboard player who was fired in 1991 has trademarked the name 'When In Rome' without the consent of we, the common law owners of the mark after the success of the movie, Napoleon Dynamite in 2004 in which our song, The Promise is used. 

We, the original founder writer, vocalist members were not officially informed of the trademark application by our ex keyboard player and although we did pay the fees to oppose, there was a mistake in the filing and the trademark was awarded to him.

This has caused no end of problems for we, the original members, and many fans of the original group are very disappointed when they pay to see 'When In Rome' only to find that they paid to see an ad hoc version of the band containing only the original keyboard player.

Our ex member even went to the extreme of suing us in federal court for using our original founded name, resulting in his ad hoc version being called 'When In Rome II' and we being called Farrington & Mann, original members of 'When In Rome UK' with the included instruction that When In Rome UK be 50% smaller than our names.

We now feel that it our duty to point out the facts surrounding the fraudulent trademarking of our group name 'When In Rome' to save disappointment to fans of the original group.

The agency who book WIRII are also falsely representing the ad hoc group by using our original video for The Promise using mine and my band mates images and likenesses to promote them on their website.

He is now attempting to sue me for contempt of court, simply for telling the truth. The irony is that he states on social media and through his friends that he is the main songwriter and even goes to the extreme of telling people that he named the band when press releases from 1986 tell a different story.

I now need to raise money with support from my friends and fans to fight for the truth!
