Theatre Rapscallions

Theatre Rapscallions was created in 2015 with the goal of bringing new and rarely seen work to the D/FW area. With a mission to have over half of their programming be originally and locally scripted, Theatre Rapscallions is filling
its ambitious first season with Stay Carl Stay by Peter Tolan, David Mamet's Oleanna,  a 48 hour play fest this summer, a one act fest, featuring local and new playwrights, and a staged reading of various works by Dallas writer Steven Young  on March 19th. Theatre Rapscallions will also be staging performances at area bars, breweries and coffee shops through its Offstage Rapscallions Players.

While developing their inaugural season, Theatre Rapscallions quickly realized there was a need in D/FW for both new and original work as well as an opportunity for site-specific performances, bringing the stage to the community and not only relying on audiences coming to them. Immediately, a one act fest featuring only local work, a 48 hour play fest with scripts written, rehearsed and produced in that timeframe and The Offstage Rapscallions division of Theatre Rapscallions was added to that ambitious list of 2016 goals. Plans for a charitable division to work with young talent from under funded schools to write, produce and perform on the Rapscallions stage is in the works as well.

Theatre Rapscallions has a mission to entertain, challenge, inspire and nurture the cultural life of D/FW not only for the current community but future generations.

“For most of us, art, performing, is a luxury. We are so lucky to have the opportunity to do what we do and share the stories we are able to tell.” says managing director Stephanie Stone-Robb. “We want to now take this opportunity to tell stories, both original and previously produced, that might never get told otherwise. We want to make people laugh, make people think, and everything in between.”
