PROJECT AMANO AYAPYA

Project ‘Amano Ayapya’ meaning new ideas is an initiative by Crowd Watch Africa to seek for people who have innovative ideas

that can have a positive impact in their communities. There are several developmental problems that are affecting African countries. This indicates that Ideas and innovative solutions are crucial to the growth of the African Continent. The project will be implemented in Lusaka, Zambia.

Lusaka is one of most urbanized city with a population of about 1.3 million people. the city is characterized by overcrowding,

haphazard layout of housing, poor water and sanitation, hips of uncollected garbage, unemployment etc. The project aims to rummage for people who have cost-effective innovative ideas which can be turned into variable projects which

will contribute positively to the livelihood of people. Priority areas are:

i. Disaster Mitigation and Management

The recent rain storms in Lusaka Province had claimed more at-least 10 lives as houses collapsed and trees were uprooted.

Besides, Zambia is experiencing few to drought rainfall activities in most parts of the country and this has negatively impacted on the

subsistence farmers and food security. we seek innovators who have ideas which would provide anticipation and preparedness to reduce death and vulnerability.

ii. Water and Sanitation

At least 56% of Lusaka’s Peri-urban population do not have access to an adequate water supply and as many as 90% do not

have access to satisfactory sanitation facilities. Insanitary conditions result in a heavy disease burden, particularly during the rainy season, when malaria, diarrhea, cholera and parasitic infections are rife.

We seek innovators who have cost effective ideas than alternatives on disease prevention and proper sanitary facilities.

iii. Waste renewable and management

Lusaka city has numerous hips of garbage and uncollected waste materials. we seek innovators who have ideas on how waste

materials can be recycled or turned into usable substances.

We are not much restricted to the above priorities, we are open to various innovative interventions that would positively impact on people’s

lives.
