“Education is the most powerful weapon we can use to change the world.”
This February 20th, the world celebrates International day of Social Justice. The fact is… true social justice can never exist so long as millions all over the world lack access to basic healthcare education.
Every year in South Africa alone, thousands of people, especially children, are dying from diarrhoea, infections and other illnesses as a result of limited knowledge about hygiene and illness prevention. Deaths that can be prevented by providing simple basic information and training to aid workers and local population.
The Health Promoters provide this basic information and training in the form of workshops and programs aimed at raising new local Health Promoters and empowering the communities. We focus our education efforts predominantly on the community women, because we believe that when you ‘Empower a woman, you empower a nation’.
But this isn’t something we can do alone, it takes all of us together:
We need to stop this easily preventable loss of lives!
The first step in doing so is speaking out to show the world that: basic health care [education] is a human right! Secondly is by joining the push on Feb 20th to be able to empower at least 1.000 women with healthcare education on that day. An amount of €5 already gives a woman the opportunity to receive education and certification as a Health Promoter
