Short Summary

Finding a job can be difficult and stressful at times, an employer has to look carefully and make sure he’s making the right decision while the jobless ones don’t even know where to find the job. As a freelancer, I have always thought of the best way possible of solving this problem using present technologies and i came up with Rango Studios, the online studio (community) of creative professionals selling digital services to people.

I am a Nigerian web developer currently working with my co developer, Shedrach to bring this project to life and impact people’s lives with technology. I majorly earn money as a freelance developer.

Contributing to this project will help us build, maintain and advertise the platform. Even if you contribute a dollar, you have done your part in making the world a better place and you should be proud of that.

What We Need

We need a total of $10,000 to make this project a success.

We already paid for a year’s hosting and domain name registration at GoDaddy, you can visit our website so we’ll alert you when we are ready to launch.

We need to:

1. Hire another web developer to handle other sections of the website and hasten the website development process -$500
2. Hire an app developer and app designer to build our mobile app -$5000
3. Purchase a SSL certificate since we will be accepting payments online -$269.99/year for 5years -$1349.95, Check this.
4. Pay for 5 years web-hosting, domain name renewal e.t.c, - $654.16
5. Purchase a CDN (Content Distribution Network) for one year, check this - $600
6. run ads on Facebook, Instagram, Twitter and Google - between $500-$700 for some months.
7. The remaining money will help us get the right legal documents and accounting assistance for our escrow service.

The Impact

The Rango Studios project will improve the way freelancers earn cash majorly in Africa, and also be a trusted middle-man for crowd-sourcing projects. With extra features like the escrow system and ability to view a freelancer’s portfolio, send instant messages or make video calls on our website, businesses can’t make the wrong decision when hiring a freelancer.

Risks & Challenges

There are few challenges start-ups like us face, it’s normal, one of which is the ability to gain traction significantly. The advertising strategies we plan on taking will help increase sign up figures.

Legal:

There are legal risks involved with running an escrow system on a website, to eliminate this risk, an accountant and a lawyer will be consulted.

Fraud:

The escrow system will reduce fraud on both sides (freelancer and employer) by keeping the money involved in a project with us and releasing cash when the project has been completed. The system will be similar to that of Indiegogo.

We will also make use of strong encryption and SSL to keep people’s information safe and ward off hackers.
